About this guide
PlugSolar Guide is an independent, plain-English reference on plug-in (balcony) solar rules in the US and Great Britain. We don't sell kits or installations.
How we check facts
- Law text first. Each legal claim comes from the bill, statute or an official government page, linked on the page. Where we could only find it in news or a tracker, we label it reported.
- Dated. Every legal block shows the date we last read its sources.
- Disagreements shown. When sources conflict (dates, wattage, certifications), the page says so instead of picking quietly.
- No guessing. If we can't verify a state, it gets one line on the laws page, not a page of filler.
- Weekly re-check. We re-read the state trackers and legislature pages and the kit certification claims every week, and update the dates.
Numbers
The calculator uses the EIA's average residential price by state, the Ofgem price cap, and PVGIS sun data (NREL's NSRDB in the US). The raw files are public in /data/, and each result shows its sum.
Money
The site has no ads and no trackers today. We may later add affiliate links to kits; if we do, every page will say so in a disclosure box, and it will not change which kits we list or what the law pages say.
Not advice
We quote rules; we don't give legal or electrical advice. Your utility, landlord, HOA, council or a licensed electrician has the final word for your home.
